I am your carpenter I am the builder. I put together the beams and the doors. Do you feel safe in your home? I put together the framework. Windows need my care and without me there are no staircases or molding. No crowns or steps. I create furniture and put in the beams in the roof. I am the carpenter; do you see me? I use the saw to bring out the shape that is in my mind and on paper. Sometimes I follow orders and sometimes I create from my world. Often I am in the zone, at one with my hands, my tool and the wood and my vision of what is being created. I breathe in the fumes of varnish and glue. My brain grows toxic. And still I continue, for I love the living wood with which I work. The material with which I work has so many different qualities and textures. Each piece like an individual that I come to know and respect. I am your carpenter. Have you ever contemplated the different qualities of wood? Coming from a tree that gave up its life to serve you. Some woods are gentle, easy to work with, fragile almost. Some are so strong, you would think they were metal, and are used for those things you wish to last forever. I, the carpenter, honor wood and the trees they come from. Did you know oak from the northwest has a different feel to it than oak from Australia? Remember every so often the thought that went into the building of your home. Respect the sweat and planning, the toil and effort it took to bring to you the comfort you now enjoy. Exchange with me as I exchange with you. I am your carpenter.

Bob, I don't know if you remember us, but you built our beautiful deck about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago. Unfortunately, we are moving in a few months. We just wanted to let you know that our deck is the thing we're going to miss the most. We are still- 3 years later, so happy with the job that you did on our deck and the timeliness and professionalism in which it was built by DPandASSOCIATES. We are hoping that you go to Cherryville to do work because when we decide to build the deck, you will be the first person we call. Furthermore, we have and still will recommend DPandASSOCIATES to anyone we know who is thinking of building a deck. I guess what we are trying to say is: You people are great!! Thanks, Lonnie Lang Pool deck in York sc with a good size patio

FAQ’s
Q: Do I need a handrail? A: Building Code requires a handrail for all decks or walking surfaces more than 30” above ground.
Q: I saw a great, open style handrail design in a magazine, can you do that for my deck? A: Many ‘open’ style handrails do not meet
Charlotte's Building Code of maximum openings such that a 4” sphere can not pass through at any point in the rail. We are happy to work with you to design a rail that you will not only be happy with, but that will keep you and your loved ones safe, as well.
Q: Do you build ramps for the disabled? A: Yes, we are more than willing to build a ramp for your needs, whether at your deck or entry to your home.

Below is a list of materials we commonly use for our deck construction. Prices will vary depending on the type of materials you choose.
Wood
· Outdoor Wood - Chemically treated wood that resists insects and decay. · Cedar - Naturally resistant to insects and decay, a fairly soft wood. · Redwood - Harder than Cedar but still considered a soft wood, Redwood is more resistant to insects and decay than Cedar. · Iron Wood - Also known as Teak, lpe’ or Mahogany, Iron Wood is extremely hard and very resistant to insects and decay.

Composites
· Trex - www.trex.com Trex decking and railing products are made from a unique combination of reclaimed wood and plastic, giving you the best qualities of both materials.
· Mikron - www.mikronvinyl.com Mikronwood decking is formulated to be work-saved, shaped and fastened almost exactly like real wood but without the knots and cracks. Mikronwood, the beauty of real wood without the imperfections.
· GeoDeck - www.geodeck.com GeoDeck™ is a state-of-the-art system that consists of matching boards, railings, posts, balusters, end caps, fascia board, post caps, post base trim, and hand rail collars—everything necessary to create an attractive deck.
· ChoiceDek - www.choicedek.com ChoiceDek comes with a manufacturer's warranty for residential use from Advanced Environmental RecyclingTechnologies, Inc. (A.E.R.T.), which is twice as long as most composite decking materials. Its patented process encapsulates wood fiber in plastic making it resistant to rot and insects. This makes ChoiceDek a favorite building material for decks, docks, piers, marinas and other walkway surfaces. And ChoiceDek is made from recycled wood and recycled plastic so it's an excellent choice for the environment.
· EZ Deck - www.ezdeck.com In order to maintain the original appearance of wood on a deck, it must be maintained by painting or staining. Even with this diligent care, insects or the elements take their toll and it is not long before replacement is necessary. EZ Deck boards are made with a fiberglass reinforced composite that is specifically designed for decks. These components provide a very stable product which is nearly impervious to the forces of nature and able to withstand the demands of a deck surface.
